Towards precision mental healthcare: A structured approach to assessment and intervention
Abstract
Mental healthcare increasingly demands individualized approaches that extend beyond symptom-based diagnosis to encompass functional assessment, targeted intervention, and continuous outcome evaluation. This keynote presents an integrated clinical pathway developed within an interdisciplinary practice comprising physicians and mental health therapists, designed to support precision-oriented mental healthcare. The pathway begins with the Functional Mental Health Triage (FMHT), an internally developed clinical decision-support framework that facilitates functional assessment, risk stratification, treatment planning, and appropriate referral pathways. Patients subsequently undergo individualized interventions tailored to their clinical presentation. The therapeutic process integrates translational neurotechnology with Integrative Psychotherapy, enabling objective physiological monitoring to complement clinical assessment, enhance therapeutic engagement, and support personalized care.Clinical progress is evaluated through structured reassessment at predefined intervals, allowing treatment strategies to be refined, escalated, or de-escalated according to patient response and functional outcomes. This iterative approach promotes continuity of care while supporting adaptive clinical decision-making throughout the therapeutic journey.Rather than presenting a single therapeutic modality, this keynote proposes a practical framework that integrates structured assessment, personalized intervention, translational neuroscience, and longitudinal monitoring into a unified model of care. The framework demonstrates how translational neurotechnology can bridge advances in neuroscience with everyday clinical practice to support more precise, measurable, and patient-centred mental healthcare.
