Evaluation of antioxidant and Inhibitory properties of Yarrow (Achillea millefolium L.) extract on the acetylcholine esterase activity and the amyloid nanofibrils formation in bovine serum albumin
Abstract
This research investigated the antioxidant effects, inhibition of acetylcholinesterase and inhibition of the amyloid nanofibrils production in bovine serum albumin (BSA) by Yarrow plant extract. First, the plant was dried and after crushing the plant, its hydroalcoholic extract was prepared. DPPH methods were used to measure antioxidant activity, markers Elman was used to check the inhibition of acetylcholinesterase enzyme and Congo red was used for the spectroscopy to check the inhibition of amyloid nanobiofibrils production. The results showed that yarrow extract has good antioxidant effects and increasing the concentration of the extract increases the inhibition of acetylcholinesterase enzyme. In addition, anti-amyloidosis properties of yarrow can be utilized for amyloidosis disease including AD.
