Presentation Title:

The complex, a crazed algorithm that rules the psychic universe. indications for a brief dynamic psychotherapy whit a psychological analytical communicative orientation

Abstract

Today it is possible to observe how the concept of algorithm has held a dominant position both in the exact sciences and in the social sciences, psychology, sociology, and in institutional culture, public and private companies. The algorithm can be conceived as a concept similar to the nature of the psyche precisely because it relativizes logic to one of the possible psychic tools, which must coexist with non-logical mental functions. The authors hypothesize this analogy between Jung's concept of algorithm and that of complex because the Complex is a concept of Jung's theory of the psyche, so much so that number theory is often called "psychic theory of complexes": paternal, maternal, fraternal, filial, etc. In the light of this premise, the authors propose a form of Brief Dynamic Psychotherapy with a Communicative Analytical Psychological orientation. First they illustrate a preliminary reference to the operational and research unit constituted by Luborsky's CCRT, as elaborated by H. Book in his theorization of Brief Dynamic Psychotherapy. Subsequently they focus attention on an original Jungian brand concept, the Complex, and highlight its analogies and differences with Luborsky's CCRT. In particular, they underline the difference between the two concepts constituted by the dimensional organization of the Complex.
Finally, they document their proposal with the description of a clinical case of Fraternal Complex, using the derivative as the clinical operating unit, in the sense of R. Langs.
