Title : Adversity, uncertainty, and elevated symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder: A new understanding through resiliency and positive psychotherapy

Abstract

The content of thought formed by information processing from the social context lived is a critical factor that guides whether the behavior is pathological or not. In cases where worry, anxiety, and fear are dominant in the content of thought, the individuals find themselves in various pathological processes. Adversity with uncertainty may lead to chaotic situations at the cognitive level, e.g. thought content such as distortions in thought, severe worry, and anxiety which underlies obsessive-compulsive disorder. Although the disorder is classified under anxiety disorders, it is a thought distortion disorder. The individuals find themselves repeating the strange behavior patterns accompanied by strange thought contents to get rid of the severe intolerable anxiety and the accelerated thought cycle, ruminations,  thought distortions, and over-generalizations. Ruminations impair the ability to think and process emotions gradually. Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder will be discussed in terms of adversity and uncertainty. Positive Psychotherapy which is one of the latest effective techniques in the recovery processes of the disease will be mentioned.
